What is GAIA?
GAIA stands for a more sustainable version of our rubber products.
Thanks to a new sourcing philosophy, we are replacing conventional ingredients with more environmentally friendly alternatives. Our focus is on materials with a lower environmental impact.
GAIA aims to reduce the GWP of our rubber products and to find a second life for our by-products.
GAIA offers an average of 60% reduction in GWP cradle to gate.
Bio-attributed rubber - A rubber that is largely produced using bio-based oils derived from plants or seeds.
Silica obtained from rice husk - Rice husks are a by-product of rice cultivation that is usually disposed of as waste.
Recycled calcium carbonate - Recycled calcium carbonate comes from powder waste from the processing of white Carrara marble.
bottom layer free of added pigments - Even in small quantities, pigments are responsible for a high percentage of emissions.
Recycling our waste materials - We incorporate various types of raw and vulcanised waste and scrap into our floors.
We've been doing the right thing for a long time
Our high-quality rubber floors have always used our exclusive Dual-D technology. Two individual layers are molecularly bonded, each with specific performance characteristics. This innovation is central to our commitment to sustainability.
With Dual-D technology, we seamlessly combine two similar floor layers, each with unique properties, including:
- the upper layer, which guarantees durability and easy cleaning.
- the bottom layer, which provides cushioning and acoustic benefits.
Our technology makes it possible to efficiently recycle internal and, in the future, external waste – without sacrificing product quality. We can incorporate a higher proportion of recycled material from a variety of sources into the lower layer. This gives us a clear competitive advantage in an industry that is increasingly focused on sustainability.
